At Point Arena Lighthouse peninsula: 🔷 no whales seen 🔶 88 harbor seals 🔷 2 black oystercatchers AT SAUNDERS REEF: 🔶 no whales seen 🔷 76 brown pelicans flying north; none stop to feed

 MONDAY, JULY 7, 2025Today we had winds at 15 mph from the south southeast with gusts of 22 mph. The ocean was covered with whitecaps. It was cloudy but visibility was good. 
 Ocean temperature was 55 degrees Fahrenheit.At the Point Arena Lighthouse peninsula, we observed: 🟢 1 whale, most likely a humpback but exact identification was not possible due to ocean conditions 🟣 112 harbor seals 🟢 6-8 black oystercatchers 🟣 approximately 145 brown pelicans, many flying north in formation while small groups often stopped to feed AT SAUNDERS REEF: 🟢 No whales seen 🟣 45 brown pelicans flying north 🟢 1 osprey

 THURSDAY, JULY 3, 2025OBSERVATIONS FROM POINT ARENA LIGHTHOUSE PENINSULA: ☀️ 1 humpback whale, slowly traveling to the north ☀️ 78 harbor seals ☀️ 57 brown pelicans, including several small groups diving into the ocean to feed; others flying north ☀️ 1 great blue heron ☀️ 1 white-tailed kite
